Ahmedabad University (AU) - A State Private University

AU was established in July 2009. It is a self-financed, non-affiliating University and was set up under the Private Universities Act 2009 passed by the Government of Gujarat. The University is promoted by Ahmedabad Education Society (AES), which was established in 1935 and is one of the best education societies in western India. World-wide, education has emerged as the principal driver of social and economic development. Ahmedabad University's vision is "to be a temple for higher learning, where students can be engaged in gathering, generating, extending, storing and disseminating knowledge which is relevant to the societal needs, offering multi-disciplinary programs to students emphasizing their all-round development.". With growing shortages of skilled man power, and increasing demand for high-quality professional and higher education, there is need for a substantial expansion in this sector. Nurturing our universities has now become vital as we stand poised to become an industrial power and a knowledge society.

Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, stated that a university stands for the adventure of ideas and for the search for truth.
