Prof. Kalro is a recipient of several scholastic and teaching excellence awards. His research publications are in the areas of OR modeling, inventory management, organization behaviour, irrigation and water management, management of educational institutions and institution building in reputed International and Indian Journals. He has also co-authored three books and has extensive consulting experience with public and private sector organizations, State and Central Governments, and International Agencies. He has traveled extensively to more than thirty countries and has taught in programmes in various countries. He has held various positions in Academic Administration. He has coordinated the 3-TP at IIMA and the Advanced Management Programme sponsored by the Bureau of Public Enterprises and accompanied delegates of Public Sector Undertakings to visit PSUs in Austria and the Soviet Union.

He has been a Member of several specially constituted committees of Government of India, Government of Gujarat and Government of Kerala.He was Associate Editor and Founder Editor-in- Chief of various journals and e-Journal. He is a Member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Educational Planning and Administration and several other journals.He is presently a Director in various PSUs, and Academic institutions.

Dr. Kalro was presented "The Life Time Achievement Award" by The Indian Society of Operations Management in December, 2006, and awards from Ahmedabad Management Association, Ahmedabad (February 2007) and School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi (April 2009) for his "Contributions to Management"
